There’s an article covering creation of custom renderers for litl controls over on the litl devlog.
As you know, the litl SDK come with some pretty handy controls that will assist in your development process by allowing you to focus on the task at hand, and not re-inventing the controls (I mean wheel).
In this post, we’ll be discussing how you can create custom item renderers for use with controls like the SlideShow and FilmStrip.
Both of these will take an array and scroll through the data. We’ll look at how we can customize that data to create unique views for your channel.

At RIA Unleashed this year there was a session I attended on Flash Games for TV.
Flash Gaming on TV
Speakers: Chuck Freedman, Kevin Suttle
It’s the year 2010, and finally, you can build games with Flash for the HDTV. With the litl SDK for Flash and Flex, we’ll show you how to build high quality, 3D, accelerometer controlled games. Plus, you can actually deploy and sell these games to litl device owners.
Join litl’s Chuck Freedman and Kevin Suttle as they play and step through the creation and future of the Flash gaming experience in the Flash and litl-enabled digital home!

There’s a online e-seminar litl developers event next week.
We’re emailing you as we are hosting a mandatory SDK webinar next week. We are holding this session twice (at varied times) in order to make sure that our incentive developers are up to speed on the latest and greatest technologies are available in the litl SDK.
Essential Topics Include:
- Developing for the TV
- Remote Management
- Litl Helper Classes
- Updates to the Simulator
This lab is a great opportunity for us to engage with a group of developers interested in deploying Flash/Flex Channels on the litl platform. We’ll have a good portion of our team on hand to work directly with you, doing a live walk through of our devices, platform, FAQs and sample channel code.
The sample channel code projects are ready to import into either Flash CS5 or FlashBuilder, so they’re ready-to-run.
After introducing you to the devices, SDK and platform, we’ll help you code your own channels and set you up to deploy them in our Channel store!
Send a request to devsupport@litl.com”> if you are interested in joining.

I noticed that litl has pushed 10.1 to webbooks, effective today.
RT @chuckstar: A certified version of Adobe Flash Player 10.1 has been pushed to all #litl products. http://twitpic.com/35om6t
Looking forward to see just how much video playback performance and other processor intensive tasks has improved the device experience (I do believe that litl has a GPU and 10.1 is able to tap into it for hardware acceleration).

Next stop hulu.

According to the litl developer blog there’s a couple of events happening this week where litl will be talking about there new Flash-based SDK.
To get our developer community acquainted with our Flash-based SDK, we’re happy to offer a special live video session with code examples and giveaways! We’ll be walking through one of our sample web-apps, or “channels”, and answering questions about the litl SDK’s custom controls.
As a special, litl is giving away a free pass to FITC San Francisco (August 17-19) to one lucky participant in our SDK webinar. All you have to do is sign up for the SDK and register for one of the webinars (below), and you’re entered in the drawing.
Speaking of FITC San Francisco, we’re excited to announce that we be there as a silver sponsor! Our own Kevin Suttle will be presenting a session, “It’s All About Context,” on building applications for different screens. Read all about it on Kevin’s blog.
